Summary:
Examines and evaluates patients’ prosthetic needs in relation to disease entity and functional loss. Provides care to patients under the direction of, and in consultation with, physicians by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
• Examine, interview, and measure patients to determine their appliance needs and identify factors that could affect appliance fit.
• Formulate design of prosthesis and selection of materials and components, based on physicians’ prescriptions and examination/measurement of patients.
• Construct and fabricate appliances, or direct others constructing the appliances. Make casts, measurements, and model modifications.
• Fit, test, and evaluate devices on patients; make adjustments for proper fit, function, quality, and comfort.
• Repair, rebuild, and modify prosthetic appliances.
• Maintain patient records.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; minimum three to five years related experience and/or training.
Certificates and Licenses:
ABC Board Certification
